- Architectural Engineering: Architectural engineers work primarily with building systems and design structural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems.
- Drafting: Drafters prepare technical plans and drawings that are used to build structures; plans often include visual guidelines, dimension specifications, and other technical details.
- Interior Design: While architects are responsible for structure and exterior aesthetics, interior designers are responsible for the aesthetic and function of interior spaces and often work closely with architects to achieve balance and beauty.
- Landscape Architecture: Landscape architects are concerned with the aesthetic of land and buildings, and design primarily for function, beauty, and compatibility with nature, taking into account climate, soil, drainage, light, and existing structures.
- Marine/Naval Architecture: Marine or naval architects work with the design, construction, and repair of marine craft and other floating structures. They may research improvements to water movement and speed and design cargo space and other ship accommodations.
- Urban/Regional Planning: Planners work to promote the best use of a community's land and other resources during growth and revitalization by analyzing the effects of plans on existing areas.
